Damn, I'm late, OK, three songs.
Happy Boys and Girls - Aquarium - Aqua. Infectiously happy song by the group that did “Barbie Girl”. Yes it is good, so listen to it, dammit!
Donnie Darko. Excellent, haunting soundtrack for an excellent movie.
The Pirates of Penzance is an extremely silly Gilbert and Sullivan musical. The Modern Major-General song is known to everyone, you just don't know what it's called or where it's from.

Obviously the best funk rock in the world is Jimi Hendrix. Obviously.
Therefore, you should be listening to him.

All right, this latest selection is from Handsome Boy Modeling School, a sort of bluesy-R&B-hip hop group. Their album “So . . . How's Your Girl?” is a hilarious tounge-in-cheek take on image in the media.
Anyway, go for “The Truth”, definitely one of the best tracks in the album. Download it from DC.

I apologize for the lack of recommendation on Monday, I know it was hard for you.
Anyway, two very different songs for you today.
The Mr. T Experience is a classic punk band that takes after the Ramones. They've got some poppy elements and the typical fratboy interpretations of love and relationships that accompany most pop-punk bands. They're different from those other bands in that they're in their 30s and still addressing these subjects, but whatever. Most of their music is fairly mediocre but you can find a number of hilarious gems. Take this recommendation–”Even Hitler Had a Girlfriend”. The original punk version is delightful, and I argue that Emocappella's a capella cover of it is even moreso.
NABZ. Hmm. I actually have no idea who NABZ is, really. I found them through an Iranian site that was sponsoring a competition for Iran's underground music artists (NABZ is apparently based in San Francisco, though). I downloaded all the mp3s at the contest site and sorted through them–NABZ's “Naghaushi” was one of my favorites. You can download their album “Message of Simplicity” from NABZ's website. Do I know what they're singing? Absolutely not–for all I know, they're singing about fucking kittens. But their trippy pop-folk sound is infectious.

Oh, I am sure that even your minimal exposure to my superior tastes are making all of you ache for my next recommendation, so I apologize that it has not been posted promptly.
Anyway, this latest one comes from the soundtrack for a delightful little anime called Noir (anime is the slang term for Japanese animation). One of the few titles to come out of the Land of the Rising Sun that does not involve sexualized 10-year-old girls and women with doormat personalities. You should all check it out–I am sure it is on DC.
Canta per Me - Noir OST 1
Sadly, I cannot find a download link for it. I could probably find an artist if I wasn't lazy, but you know how it is.
However, if you IM me or if DC goes back up, you may certainly get it.

You kids love your angst. That's why there's The Alkaline Trio. It doesn't do grizzled emotion the way Dylan does it, but sometimes it's necessary to pander to the masses.

You're going to see a lot of Bob Dylan. This is because he rocks and delivers real emotional depth and social commentary in his music, unlike your pop-psuedo-punk-emo crap that tries to pass itself off as good music these days. Damn kids.

Your music sucks.
That's right, it sucks.
Why in God's name are you listening to it? Good Charlotte? Fountains of Wayne? Britney Spears? What are you thinking?
Well, it's time to get back to basics. You're going to listen to my music. I'm going to give a song or an album–I'll try to stick to things on Direct Connect–and you're going to listen to it to improve yourself. This is for your own good, really.
Now, let's begin.
Dub Side of the Moon - Easy Star All-Stars. Classic Pink Floyd + reggae = surprisingly awesome rawk.
Go for “On the Run” for a taste.
