Google Web Mail

Wednesday, March 31st, 2004

According to the New York Times, Google is rolling out a new, 1GB-per-user web mail system. This is an update to a previous story.

Of course, even though it is widely reported by a number of news sources, they probably didn't read the press release:

“[A customer] kvetched about spending all her time filing messages or trying to find them,” Page said.

and

Millions of M&Ms later, Gmail was born.

The clincher of this press release is its byline:

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - April 1, 2004 UTC

It's in UTC so they could get in on the April Fools action a day early. Sign up while you can! :-)

New worm on the loose insulting NetSky

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2004

Tomorrow the papers will talk about a new worm on the loose. I received it in an encrypted ZIP file; it's UPX-packed, like so many worms these days.

Hey, NetSky, fuck off you bitch, don't ruine our bussiness, wanna start a war?

I found some interesting strings in it, as you can see. It came masquerading in this email:
