As if anyone reading needed any reminding of this, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 bans circumventing copy control systems. But Magnatune, now selling its music on the iTunes Music Store, tells its users that they may break Apple DRM:

Yes, absolutely, Magnatune (and I) have no problem with users removing DRM on iTunes purchased tracks.

Gee, but that's illegal under the 1998 Digital Millennium Copyright Act. But Magnatune isn't interested in the DRM, and doesn't want its customers to be restricted in that way.

If only there were some law proposed to make this all saner….
