Lost in Translation

Anyone can tell me how to use postage machine?

Our department has a old style postage machine, whose printer and meter are connected by cables. Having a package to mail, this afternoon I spent hours trying to make it work.
However, the only message appeared on the screen is ‘’meter check date error'’, although I can choose mail class and even calculated the correct postage.

Anyone can help me?
