I just fixed my DVD player, which has touble with remote control for about one year.
It turns out that the remote is fine, while the receiver inside the player causes all the trouble.
After opening the box, removing all the srews I can find, the receiver eventually shows up: two legs of its triode are stuck together, which short circuit the element, and stop it responding any signal.
I can imagine what happened: some worker oversea(probably someone in my hometown) try to assemble the unit by brutal force, crush one leg onto another. This also explains the situation before: pushing ”picture” button(which turns out to be the nearest one to the triode) on the panel several times may solve the problem temporarily.
Philips must do better than this to maintain the product quality.
Anyhow, I just proved I am a physicist.
