I emailed all the suspended users this afternoon with this message:
We have suspended your Hopkins Weblogs accounts because you're not affiliated with the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. If this is a mistake, do reply and tell me so I can restore your account.
I thought I'd put all of your addresses in the To: field to show you all how very many of you there are. I'd love to hear about how you all found our service. We haven't even launched yet!
– Asheesh Laroia.
Some of them have emailed me back. After a day or two or something, I'll delete 'em all. “May their data live forever in backups.”

In S2 styles that support link lists, I've given everybody fifty (rather than the default of five) spaces for links. And if someone doesn't think that's enough, I'll make it more. This changed in ljconfig.pl. Also, I alphabetically sorted the capabilities in that hash array so it's easier to find things.

Random works, by the way; it's been working for a while. But it mostly picks up on suspended users. I should trash those accounts, and then it'll be better.

libgnupg-interface-perl was installed because LJ needs it for GnuPG support, apparently.

The login box in the corner of index.bml now works. It looks pretty much like the box in login.bml because I stole code from version 1.61 of login.bml. And it disappears if you're logged in, or if you're not on index.bml. This was in rhumbasimii.bml.

The side box for login now only shows up on the front page. Changed in rhumbasimii.look.

I've made the front page do the same thing as stats.bml: Last 10 updated blogs in the past 30 days. I don't think that's quite what Chris wanted. “But it was so easy….”

The socialism on this site dictates that all users are equal. So, I've dropped the capability classes that LJ uses. I did that in ljconfig.pl by commenting them out. I also increased everyone's capability limits in %CAP_DEF.

I gave paulproteus the faqedit cap. Now he can edit FAQs using URLs like this: http://blogs.jhu.edu/admin/faq/faqedit.bml?id=1 . You can figure out the FAQ URL to use by going to the FAQ you want and clicking the “Edit this FAQ” link. Turns out that link only shows up if you have the faqedit cap.
I granted the capability with argument “*”. It seems the rhumba FAQ is called faqid 1. Looking at real LJ, you can set the faqid to a string. Maybe I'll do that sometime; I'm not sure.
Also, I made the top bar more useful and dynamic. You can see this in rhumbasimii.look.
